The Old Beef String Band is an old time song and tune band based in Halifax/Mi’kma‘ki, Nova Scotia. Their sound is rooted in Appalachian mountain music of the American south. Performances include original and traditional repertoire featuring playful harmonies, compelling ballads, melodic step dancing and driving tunes with fiddle and mandolin going head-to-head.

The social aspect of old time, jams and gatherings, are a big part of Old Beef events. Shows are usually followed by a jam session with musicians from all walks of life.

The band is Ellen Kearney (vocals, guitar, mandolin), Amy Lounder (fiddle, vocals) and Dane George (mandolin, banjo, vocals, step dance).
